Church Blues at Christmas?
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so they say?? But is it really? As we steadily approach the close of yet another year, I am reminded of how many members, friends, family, and love ones, we lost along the way. During the holidays, many people make time to spend with those they love & care about while other people pray that the next couple of weeks come and go very quickly. I am convinced that the race isn’t given to the ones that get there first, or to the ones who get there easy. Life Happens, but you must keep LIVING! The race is given to the FINISHERS.
Today I speak over your life and over your households that the grace of God will keep you and the power of His Spirit will preserve you. God is your strength and your salvation; You will no longer be afraid. God Is your light and your salvation; You will not lose your mind in the storm. You are surrounded by His angels, and nothing will be able to move you from God’s protection. Trust in the keeping power of the Almighty God and remain confident in the everlasting love of the King of Glory.
You have not been rejected by God, You are loved with an everlasting love. God has you covered. Though a thousand shall fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, You shall not fear; God watches over you and yours. He that keeps you neither sleeps nor slumbers. The Lord remembers His promises and fulfils His covenant to those that FINISH THEIR RACE! Don’t you dare GIVE UP! May the spirit of a finisher rest on your household. Your life is safe, your future is not under threat.
Decree & Declare:
I will exceed all expectations.
I will deliver on destiny’s terms;
I operate in the arena of limitless possibilities,
I have become a wonder to many, and God is my sustenance.
He is my eternal help and source.
I shall want for NOTHING.
My mouth is satisfied with good things.
I will eat of the fat of the land;
I am like a tree planted by the rivers of flowing water, my root is strong in the ground. My leaves are green and fresh. I bring forth my fruit in and out of season.
The earth will yield to me of her increase.
This is a year of Release for Me!
In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen
B.Slade Drops Musical Response to Church Critics #Conversation
B.Slade Drops Musical Response to Church Critics #Conversation Gospel Artist, formerly known as Tonex responds to critics after ministering at a church this past weekend dressed in attire resembling the likes of Micheal Jackson and Prince.
Before leaving a disgusting comment on this post, I think it’s time we have a real conversation. Most, if not all of what B.Slade sings in this song has profound weight in reality, truth, and exactly what is wrong with the “church” of today. I probably own every CD, DVD, & interview published on B.Slade formerly known as Tonex. He’s a real creative creature, much like the icons he embodies. Anthony Charles Williams II is different no doubt, but what I really think should be divulged is the church’s response to “confessed sins” and or struggles as opposed to the visible yet closeted acts of the church body as a whole. In the words of this eclectic artist, I think it’s time we had a conversation.

Psalm 30 “The Message Bible” Don’t Look the Other Way
“I give you all the credit, GOD — you got me out of that mess, you didn’t let my foes gloat. GOD, my God, I yelled for help and you put me together. GOD, you pulled me out of the grave, gave me another chance at life when I was down-and-out. All you saints! Sing your hearts out to GOD! Thank him to his face! He gets angry once in a while, but across a lifetime there is only love. The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter.
When things were going great I crowed, “I’ve got it made. I’m GOD’s favorite. He made me king of the mountain.” Then you looked the other way and I fell to pieces.
When things were great I said, “I’ve got it made. I’m GOD ’s favorite, then You looked away & I fell to pieces. Psalm 30 Click To Tweet
I called out to you, GOD; I laid my case before you: “Can you sell me for a profit when I’m dead? auction me off at a cemetery yard sale? When I’m ‘dust to dust’ my songs and stories of you won’t sell. So listen! and be kind! Help me out of this!”
“For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5 NIV
You did it: you changed wild lament into whirling dance; You ripped off my black mourning band and decked me with wildflowers. I’m about to burst with song; I can’t keep quiet about you. GOD, my God, I can’t thank you enough.” Psalm 30:1-12 MSG

You will always encounter a few “Haters”
I think by now, most of you know that everyone will not be happy with all of the decisions you make in life. To be a successful business owner you can not carry your emotions on your shoulders. Being overly sensitive can cause you to lose sight of profitable opportunities. It will also give your haters exactly what they want.
I’m No EXPERT but…
I’m not really a “Hater” specialist. In fact, I actually hate the term because it is loosely used to define people and does not specify a set group of consistent actions. Read more about dealing with haters here.
I am not sure if there is any one “great answer” to dealing with opposition or negative feedback in your business. Although we all aim to be people pleasers in an effort to gain more business, we must remember that all businesses do not market to everybody. Every business model has a target market.
Read a few of my suggestions on dealing with negativity in the workplace HERE
Progress. Persevere. Produce.
Remember negativity slows progression.
Negativity hurts. Push pass the emotional distress and persevere.
If you don’t produce, you will reduce. Your brand deserves your best for maximum productivity.

Decoding Your OWN Destiny, Can You Do It? Destiny Decoded
Recently I’ve had the privilege to work in the creative planning phase for a mega church’s annual conference designed to help believers discover their personal destiny. This year’s there is destiny decoded. Participants are encouraged to pursue their own paths to Destiny, and become enlighten and equipped against destiny stealers, while understanding the importance of strategic partnerships, and Devine Connections along the way.
destiny decoded
The church tackles the idea that each and everyone of us born of a woman, has a God Given Destiny. We personally must be determined to discover, decode, develop, and decide to arrive at our destination on time. I’m not sure if I have my own personal destiny decoded fully. It is important to discover why you were born. What contribution are you excepted to leave this earth. As I stand in prayer, with Pastor Keion D. Henderson and The LightHouse Church
I ask that you join me in asking God to reveal His divine purpose for our lives. May clarity of thought come to your mind and may answers to lingering questions be revealed unto you. I pray you see with the eyes of faith further and clearer than those of your natural eyes. I declare, that godly courage and authority will kidnap ever ounce of demonic fear you may be facing and may you rise and shine, in love filled with the light of the lord which can only be found in Christ Jesus.
Charles Butler & Trinity
Gospel recording artists Charles Butler & Trinity (CB & T) has become one of the most regarded gospel acts in the country. Their signature sound infuses traditional and contemporary gospel music and has afforded the Washington, DC, based group the opportunity to spread the message of God’s infinite love to the world.
Since their commencement, CB & T has shared the stage with prominent music artists, such as Kirk Franklin, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Richard Smallwood, Karen Clark-Sheard, Kierra Sheard, Pastor Donnie McClurkin, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Pastor Hezekiah Walker, Tye Tribbett, Donald Lawrence, Pastor Kim Burrell, Tasha Cobbs, J Moss, Bobby Jones, CoKo, Michelle Williams, Lil Mo, Byron Cage, Pastor Marvin Winans, JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, Bebe Winans, and a host of other talented entertainers. In addition, CB & T has performed on the WORD Network, TBN, and BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel.
CB & T’s highly anticipated CD Better was released nationally in July of 2014. The project debuted at #16 and peaked at #7 on the Billboard Gospel Charts. What’s more, the album received an overflow of positive reviews and earned the virtuosos a Stellar Award nomination for Contemporary Choir of the Year.
Two of CB & T’s most notable achievements happened right in their city, as the group was privileged to perform before some of the nation’s greatest figures through providing background vocals for Marvin Winans, Bebe Winans, Heather Headley, and Shirley Caesar at the March on Washington 50th Anniversary live broadcast where President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton, former President Jimmy Carter, Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Jamie Foxx, and the King family were in attendance. Additionally, in February of 2015 CB & T was invited to minister at the White House for the Celebrating African American History Month event where they bestowed a soul stirring performance before an audience of influential Black leaders.
In conjunction with having their own platform as national gospel recording artists, CB & T are respected background vocalists, lending their vocal prowess to other gospel recording artists. The group covered the Richard Smallwood classic Center of My Joy with Earnest Pugh at the Evolution of Gospel ceremony held at the Kennedy Center, performed the National Anthem at the Wizards vs. Orlando Magic game at the Verizon Center; provided background vocals on gospel recording artist Earnest Pugh’s critically acclaimed Rain On Us project, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Gospel charts and the title track at #1; accompanied Earnest Pugh on a 15 city tour in Italy; performed at the historical Howard Theatre for the CD release concert of Earnest Pugh and Keith Williams; and backed various gospel artists at Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound choir competition in Baltimore, MD.
Zacardi Cortez “Oh How I Love You” New Single
One of the most talked about voices in gospel music today belongs to 32-year-old singer, Zacardi Cortez. Over the last half dozen years, Cortez’ big voice and spine-tingling vocal gymnastics have distinguished James Fortune & FIYA’s radio smashes “Let Your Power Fall” and “Favor of God” and made him one of the most sought-after singers in the business today for concerts and work in touring musical plays in this age of auto-tune stars. Now, he’s stepping into the spotlight with his own Top Ten radio smash, “One More Time,” a rousing duet with his mentor, Pastor John P. Kee. Houston’s Own Zacardi Cortez Biography
Born September 17, 1985 in Houston, TX, Cortez hails from a singing family of faith. He began singing at the age of five in church and worked the Texas gospel circuit with his family, The Cortez Singers. Later on, John P. Kee, adopted him as a spiritual son and began mentoring him. For a while, Cortez sang with Kee’s V.I.P. Mass Choir and sang a solo on the CD, Live at the Fellowship, in 2001. He later made guest shots on recordings by Kurt Carr, Bishop Paul S. Morton and Pastor Gregg Patrick & the Bridge Project.
Then, circa 2006,Blacksmoke Media Worldwide CEO, Kerry Douglas, discovered Cortez and recruited him to sing the lead single, The Blood,” from James Fortune’s sophomore CD, The Transformation. The traditional styled song was a showcase for Cortez’ vast vocal range and gave Fortune his first Top 20 national radio hit. He has since recorded on all of Fortune’s subsequent CDs. His volcanic vocals, alongside those of Shawn McLemore, ushered Fortune’s track “I Believe” to #1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart for 14 weeks and earned them coveted TV performances on BET’s “Celebration of Gospel” and BET’s “Sunday Best” programs.
All of the buzz about Cortez’ old school vocal acrobatics have earned him celebrity fans ranging from soul singer John Legend to Le’Andria Johnson. On May 22, 2012, Blacksmoke Media Worldwide will debut Cortez’s CD debut, Zacardi Cortez: The Introduction. The first single, “One More Time,” is currently #5 on Billboard’s gospel chart. The set features both new and old school gospel tracks with cameos by Donnie McClurkin, Lalah Hathaway and Kierra Sheard. “Zacardi is one of the best singers on this planet,” says Douglas. “When people hear this album, they will understand why Zacardi is gospel’s next big superstar.”

Earnest Pugh New Single “Survive”
Over the last decade, Dove and Stellar Award nominated recording artist Earnest Pugh has distinguished himself as one of gospel music’s greatest crooners with radio smashes such as “I Need Your Glory” (#1 for nine weeks on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart), “More of You,” “The Great I Am” and his signature song, “Rain On Us.” The show-stopping performer is currently enjoying new chart success with his dynamic collaboration with the legendary Rance Allen on “All Things Through Christ,” a powerful revamp of a Clark Sisters staple that anchors Pugh’s most recent #1 CD “The W.I.N. (Worship in Nassau) Experience: Live in Nassau Bahamas” (P-Man Music Group).
Pugh’s come a long way from his humble roots in Memphis, TN. The 7th of nine children, the five-octave singer was raised in church and fell in love with music early in his life. His heroes then were gospel greats like Darryl Coley and Vanessa Bell Armstrong. “I literally stood in the mirror and pretended that I was them in concert,” he recalls. He started singing around his hometown where Grammy Award winning choir director O’Landa Draper mentored the young vocalist. Pugh kept on singing during a 15-year military career. Once he retired from the armed services, he served as a worship leader at various churches in Houston, Atlanta and Washington, D.C. He also put together a demo and sent it to all the major gospel record labels. “Everybody turned me down,” he says but that didn’t sway him. He bankrolled his own CD with the help of some close friends. “A Worshipper’s Perspective” was released in 2006 and the radio single, “Wrapped Up, Tied Up, Tangled Up,” reached the Top 30 on the now defunct Radio & Records gospel chart.
In 2009, Pugh moved to World Wide Music label and shot to the top echelon of the gospel world after the unexpected success of the soul-stirring ballad “Rain on Us” reached #1 on the Hot Gospel Songs chart and made him a contender. The album “Live: Rain on Us” also produced further hits with the Caribbean flavored “The Great I Am” and the bustling “Bless the Lord.” Pugh worked the road had for a year and then compiled his third CD “Earnestly Yours” that became the first gospel CD within the eOne Distribution system to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. The lead radio single “I Need Your Glory” also zoomed to the top position and was followed by further chart hits such as “For My Good” (featuring Beverly Crawford) and the remake of Keith Pringle’s 1984 gem “Perfect Peace.” Pugh’s last World Wide Music label set was the hits CD, “The E Factor” that was released in late autumn 2012 off of the strength of his duet with R&B star Lalah Hathaway on the inspiring anthem, “Every Promise.”
Pugh then launched his EPM Music Group label via a direct deal with eOne Distribution in Nashville. The label has released charting projects on Chrystal Rucker, Vincent Tharpe & Kenosis, Charles Butler & Trinity and Keith Williams. The singer released “Christmas with Earnest Pugh & Friends” in 2012. The set was a showcase for various artists from the EPM label roster and it also featured a handful of holiday songs by Pugh. The set hit the Top 5 on both the gospel and holiday album charts.
In 2013, Pugh had another surprise for the music industry when he set up P-Man Records with a distribution deal through Central Distribution. He released the live CD “The W.I.N. (Worship in Nassau) Experience: Live in Nassau Bahamas” in the fall and it became Pugh’s second #1 CD. The set features a stellar collaboration with J. Moss on “I Believe You Most.” He followed that Top 40 single with the smooth worship tune “More of You” that rose to #13 on the chart and he’s now enjoying a Top 20 hit with his riveting duet of “All Things Through Christ” with Bishop Rance Allen.
Since his ascent to gospel music’s upper rung, Earnest Pugh has performed on highly rated TV specials such as BET’s “Celebration of Gospel” and “The Stellar Awards.” He tours continuously and does over 150 concert dates a year. He’s also made his acting debut on TV One’s popular “The Ricky Smiley Show” and has appeared in various musical stage plays. He’s been profiled in media as varied as The Washington Post, The New York Times and Gospel Today Magazine. A father of two young adults, Pugh currently resides in Houston, TX where he serves as minister of music at The Light House Church.
